St. Joseph's Church sold; Transfer Service Scheduled

This afternoon, St. Joseph's Church was sold to the Coptic Church.  Coptic Christianity has its roots in Egypt, being founded by St. Mark the Evangelist in Alexandria in the decades after the Resurrection.  As such they are seen as an apostolic church, as is the Roman Catholic Church.  Among the many similarities between our churches are the celebration of the seven sacraments, including the Holy Eucharist.

To mark the transfer of St. Joseph's Church from the Roman Catholic Church to the Coptic Church, we will have an ecumenical prayer service on the evening of Thursday, 14 November, at 7 p.m.; the church will be open at 6:30 p.m. for anyone wishing to come early for prayer.  This service will mark both the transfer of St. Joseph's to the Coptic Church, as well as the continuity in the use of the church as a place for the celebration of the Eucharist and other sacraments.  Following the service, a simple collation will take place in the lower church hall.  We hope you can join us!

Volunteers move the St. Joseph Food Cellar

"I Was Hungry..." Matthew 25:35

On January 1, 2013, Holy Ghost Church and St. Joseph's Church united to become St. Vincent de Paul Parish located at 71 Linden Street in Attleboro. The food pantry, a vital part of the St. Joseph parish life, is now located directly across the street from the new parish church, thanks to the efforts of the dedicated volunteers pictured above. Every Friday from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., hungry community members receive food for themselves and their family. One day they will hear the Lord say, "I was hungry and you fed me".

To learn more about this ministry, including how to coordinate large food deliveries, please contact the parish office at 508-226-1115 x 2.

Our Lady of Fatima Celebration

We will have our annual celebration of the Blessed Mother's final appearance at Fatima in 1917 on Saturday, October 12, the eve of the day of her apparition. We will begin with a special Mass at 6:30 p.m., celebrated and preached by Father Manuel Ferreira, a retired priest of the Diocese of Fall River and former administrator of Holy Ghost Parish. After the Mass we will have a candlelight procession with the statue of Our Lady of Fatima around the neighborhood as we pray the Rosary. You may bring our own candles or obtain them at church. After the procession we will have Benediction in church and then refreshments will be served downstairs. Please come and invite your friends.
