Great Attendance for June 17 DOE Information Night

Over 50 people attended the Day of Evangelization (DOE) information session on Monday 17 June in Holy Ghost church. The evening started with the Rosary led by Father Wilson before the group moved proceedings downstairs to the Hall for the DOE information sharing sessions.
The general session was led by Kathy Harum, parish DOE Point of Contact. Kathy welcomed all new attendees (including Father Davignon – pictured below) and explained the focus of DOE in our parish. Kathy also offered guidance to all participants on the intention and format of the team breakout sessions which were scheduled as part of the evening. Kathy spoke with tremendous enthusiasm and praised the response of the parish to this challenging ministry. She invited each DOE team’s Point of Contact to present a summary of their team’s work and these inspirational accounts were then followed by a brief thirty minute teams break out session.

The third part of the evening was led by Ed Gallagher and Kathleen Kerin, our outstanding DOE Co-coordinators, who were members of the foundation DOE parish in Rhode Island in 2010 and are veterans of a number of subsequent parish DOEs since then.
Ed and Kathleen offered lessons learned from past parishes in the open session and shared rich real life stories on the Spiritual impact of the DOE on those visited. They also explained the general schedule for the DOE Day which will be followed, emphasizing that experienced DOE leaders will accompany every volunteer on the door to door portion of the day. The leadership team also emphasized the need to spread the news of our DOE far and wide, asking for as many helpers as possible for all aspects of the DOE.  Their core message was “Do not be afraid” and this resonated with an authenticity based on personal witness.

The meeting ended with the first public rendition of a new song written and performed by Kathy Harum. Kathy has based this original composition on the “Door to Door” theme. Kathy’s catchy, upbeat song was warmly received by the audience.

To conclude, Father Wilson led the meeting in a final prayer and gave a parting blessing to all participants. Enthused by this excellent evening, we look forward to our next DOE parish Information Evening on Monday, 8 July at 6.45 PM in the Church. All are welcome to attend.

DAY OF EVANGELIZATION LAUNCH - WEEKEND OF 15 and 16 JUNE

We will officially launch the parish Day of Evangelization (DOE) program at weekend masses this weekend (15/16 June). Speakers at each mass will explain the reason for this wonderful parish initiative and outline the many ways people can get involved.

Our priests will also begin to lead us in saying the parish "Day of Evangelization Prayer" at Mass. This prayer has been composed by the DOE Prayer team. Pew cards have been placed in the Church with this prayer translated into three languages.

The distinctive "Door to Door" logo (below), beautifully created by Kathy Harum, our parish DOE Coordinator, is featured on each pew prayer card.

We are also including a "Day of Evangelization" flier with this weekend's bulletin. Preparations are underway and all parishioners are welcome to join forthcoming meetings.

NEXT PARISH DOE MEETING - 17 JUNE: ALL ARE WELCOME!

On Monday June 17th at 6:45 PM members of our parish are continuing to prepare for our Day of Evangelization (DOE) happening later this summer.  We will be sending out 100 parishioners and volunteers 2x2 to go Door to Door throughout the City of Attleboro to gently, lovingly invite people home to Christ.

“After this the Lord appointed seventy two others whom he sent ahead of him in pairs to every town and place he intended to visit” (Luke 10:1).  The Day of Evangelization is supported by 17 subcommittees, including Prayer and Fasting, Maps and Logistics, Day Care, Food, promotions and many others.

We have many volunteers, but need many more to support the first door to door for Christ event in Massachusetts.

Please attend our next meeting on Monday June 17th to determine where your gifts and talents can be used to help grow our Parish Community.  The evening will start at 6:45 with the Rosary, the planning committee meeting starts at 7:00pm, and breakout into subcommittees will be at 8:00pm.

For more information, please contact Kathy Harum via the Parish Office at (508) 226-1115.
